Abstract

The Maghreb region faces an ongoing rivalry that poses significant challenges to achieving sustainable security. This rivalry, characterized by competition, mistrust, and conflicting interests among the countries, has hindered effective security policies and perpetuated a cycle of instability. In this paper, we critically examine the impact of rivalry on the prospects of the Maghreb region, particularly from a security perspective. By delving into the complexities of this issue, we aim to shed light on the imperative of collaborative approaches and the benefits of transcending the rivalry trap for fostering lasting security in the Maghreb.
